Cruising For Charity

For Non-Profit Organizations only

N todays times it has become increasingly difficult for non-profit and charitable organizations to raise meaningful funds. With so many special interest groups and projects that need funding, it seems as thought someone is always looking to you to help support their particular effort. Of course it is impossible to give to everyone.

 

However, Sun Travel Online has a Great Idea for your organization. Everyone loves to travel. Most people dream of taking a cruise. Why not combine the two with a fresh new approach to raising funds?

 

With this program everyone is a winner!

The charity can raise thousands of dollars, and the Participants can cruise and feel good about supporting the organization.

 

Carnival Cruise Lines & Sun Travel Online will help you setup your group. We will provide you with:

·         Brochures, flyers, web page promotion, registration forms, all invoicing and paper work,

·         Processing payments, answering all your questions and cost of all postage.

We do it all.

You just bring us the cruisers.

 

  

DETAILS ON HOW THE FUND-RAISING PROMOTION WORKS!

The example used for this exercise will be a 5-night fall sailing on the Sensation from Tampa.

Inside Cabin (no window)             $409.00pp               $429.00pp                    $1049.00pp

Outside Cabin (window)              $469.00pp               $489.00pp                     $1149.00pp

 

The group rates are marked up by $20 pp to be given to the charity. If they market the cruise, as a fun-raiser with Sun Travel Online; Carnival Cruise Lines will donate $5 per guest per day to the organization after the group sails.

 

Examples:

·         On a 3 day cruise @ $5 per Guest per day = $30 per cabin.

·         On a 7 day cruise @ $5 per Guest per day = $70 per cabin.

·         On a 8 day cruise @ $5 per Guest per day = $80 per cabin .

 

In addition the organization will earn free berths depending on how many cabins they sell. These free berths can be sold or raffled to raise additional money. For the example being used, we were offering 1 free passenger for 8 cabins sold. This means that for every 8 cabins sold one person would go free.

 

In order to understand what kind of money could be raised lets assume that the charity sold 24 cabins. 24 = 48 people

 

 **5 day cruise**

48 X $20 = $960.00. (Mark on group rate)

$1,200.00 (Carnival Cruise Lines Contribution) Total Funds Raised = $2160.00

 

In addition since they sold 48 guest they have earned (6) Free berths or (3) cabins which they can re-sell or raffle.

 

RAFFLE OF FREE CRUISE

(Time frame: To be completed 75-Days prior to group departure date)

The organization has earned (3) free cabins as a result of the first phase of this promotion. It is suggested they use those free cabins as follows:

·         Cabin #1: Raffle off through the sale of raffle tickets.

·         Cabin #2: Used as an incentive to the person(s) who sells the most cabins.

·         Cabin #3: Used as an incentive to the person(s) who sell the most raffle tickets.

 

This phase of the fundraising promotion should raise between $5,000 and $10,000 or more additional dollars for the organization based on the selling price and number of raffle tickets sold.

 

RESULTS OF COMBINATION OF ALL PROMOTIONS

As you can see the promotion could earn as much as $11,920 or more based on the size of the group, length of cruise and raffle tickets sales.

SUGGESTED PROMOTIONAL TIME FRAME

  • Planning Phase (30-60 Days)
  • Group Promotion Phase (12-15 Months)
  • Raffle Phase (30-60 Days)
  • All Phases need to be completed 75-Days prior to group departure date.
